Timor-Leste: Research Consultant sought for Timor-Leste

“Stopping As Success: planning for success from start to exit” is a USAID-funded collaborative learning project that is looking at responsible exit strategies of INGOs. The primary goal of this project is to understand the multiple dynamics at play when ending a peacebuilding or development programme. To date, we have conducted case studies in Colombia, Morocco, Philippines and DR Congo. We will be carrying out further case studies in Timor-Leste and Bangladesh.

We are currently seeking a consultant in Timor-Leste to**:** 1) provide in-country support to Peace Direct’s Senior Researcher, which will include identifying and inviting relevant civil society and international aid actors for key informant interviews; 2) Co-facilitate a learning exchange with international and local aid actors, and 3) Support in the write-up of a case study report on international/local partnerships. Peace Direct’s Senior Researcher will be in Timor-Leste for at least one week in February. Search for Common Ground will also be conducting research in-country on behalf of the consortium during this time period.

For this role, we require a research consultant with a relevant network in the INGO and civil society sector in Timor-Leste, a degree in international development or a similar subject, a strong interest and understanding of development and civil society issues and a proven track record in conducting qualitative research. The consultant should be based in Timor-Leste. Applications from people not based in Timor-Leste will not be considered. The consultant will need to speak fluent English and Tetum.

Deadline for applications:21 January 2019

Video skype interviews will take place on the 24th of January and the consultant is expected to start work the following week for field work to take place on the 20th February 2019
