Organization: Peace Direct
Country: Bangladesh
Closing date: 25 May 2018

“Stopping As Success: planning for success from start to exit” is a USAID-funded research project that will look at responsible exit strategies of INGOs. The research consortium consists of Peace Direct, Search for Common Ground and CDA Collaborative Learning Projects. The primary goal of this research is to examine exit strategies in peacebuilding and development programs, and bring greater awareness to the international community of the multiple dynamics at play when ending a program. Exit can be seen as a success because sustainable outcomes have been achieved or because continued intervention may only serve to distort local efforts.

Peace Direct is currently seeking a consultant in Bangladesh to: 1) provide a one page analysis of the civil society and INGO environment in Bangladesh; 2) Identify at least four case studies of INGO exits and phase-outs from Bangladesh, and 3) to identify local resource organisations that have an influential role in Bangladesh.

For this role, we require someone with contacts in the INGO and civil society sector in Bangladesh, a degree in international development or a similar subject, a strong interest and understanding of development and civil society issues and proficiency in English and Bengali. The consultant should be based in Bangladesh.
